This is a receipt I wanted to share with you that came from a wonderful seller that I met in my real estate travels.

I was at their house to view & present an offer, and ohhhh MYYYYY there was something wonderful cooking in the oven!! While I viewed their home and presented my offer, the smell had taken over — I just couldn’t stand it any longer! When they offered me a piece, I just had to say yes. My taste buds were definitely in control. It was the most moist, nutty, fresh tasting desert-like bar that I’ve had in a long time…and it was (somewhat) healthy too. I politely asked the owners to share the recipe with me so that I could share it with you.

Fruit+Nut Bars

700 grams of graham crumbs
2 cans of condensed milk (Eagle brand)
1 bottle of maraschino cherries halved
1 small bag of dried cranberries (Craisins)
1 “block” of dates cut up in small pieces
combination of nuts to taste to equal about 2 cups (for example: hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds…)
1 small bag of unsweetened coconut, or less, to taste.

Mix all ingredients with a spoon in large bowl. Mixture will be very very sticky! Once everything is well mixed up, put dough in a rectangular pyrex type dish lined with wax or parchment paper that has been very well coated with “pam”. Cook in oven at 350 for about 40 minutes, check doneness buy inserting tooth pick and by color of the top. Let fully cool on rack. Cut up in bar size squares. Very good for freezing.
